Tiny Tots: finding their feet
Our Tiny Tots class · 1 – 2 years
Tiny Tots is where babies become toddlers. First steps, first words and first friendships all arrive in this room, and the day is built around giving children the space and the encouragement to try.

What learning looks like at this age
This is a year of enormous change, so the three prime areas of the EYFS still lead:
- Communication & Language: naming the world, sharing books, and responding to every attempt at a word.
- Physical Development: cruising, walking, climbing, and the fine motor work of feeding themselves and turning pages.
- Personal, Social & Emotional Development: playing alongside others, coping with big feelings, and building trust in the adults around them.
Messy play, water and sand, music and movement, and plenty of outdoor time give toddlers safe ways to test what their bodies can do.
A predictable, active day
Toddlers thrive on knowing what comes next, so the day has a steady shape: welcome and free play, a focused activity, snack, outdoor play, lunch, rest, then more play before home time. Within that shape there is a lot of freedom to follow what each child is interested in.
We are open Monday to Friday, twelve months a year. The nursery opens at 6:45 AM, and on Fridays pick-up is by 12:30 PM, with later pick-up available if you need it.
Small class, familiar faces
Classes are deliberately small. Every child has a key person who knows their routine and their family, a daily diary goes home, a full-time registered nurse is on site, and the building has CCTV and controlled access.
What comes next
At around two, children move up to Happy Hoppers, where language and independence really take off.
Questions parents ask
My child is not walking yet. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Children arrive in Tiny Tots at very different stages, and the room is set up for crawlers, cruisers and confident walkers alike.
Do you help with potty training?
We follow your lead and work in partnership with you, starting when your child shows they are ready rather than at a fixed age.
Will my child still nap?
Yes. Tiny Tots have a rest period after lunch, and we ask for a blanket from home, which goes back every Thursday for washing.
